Oak Hammock Marsh

My new job is at Oak Hammock Marsh. It's so cool! Here's a brief list of my duties.
  • feed the animals. This includes the turtle, salamanders, carp, minnows, toad, tree frog and garter snake.
  • open exhibits
  • face paint (I practice on my arm. )
  • tours of the Interpretive Centre
  • put on movies for the public
  • do informative slide shows
  • help in the cafe, preparing and serving food, washing dishes and tables, ringing the items through
  • translations with Lorraine
  • Marshwalk tours
  • Canoe tours (!!!!)
  • answering any questions that the public may have
  • using the intercom to anounce upcoming activities.
So ya. It's pretty amazing. I get to everything. And come spring, I can do some tagging of birds. I'm so excited. And my boss, Jacques, told me that I was their first choice. :D That's so cool. Today I did a lot of training, but I successfully painted faces, and I helped with the cafe. I read a story to some kids and watched a movie about plants. And I got to eat marshmallows with the day camp. I'm very excited. I can't wait to be more independent. Then I can find some jobs myself. I photocopied the marshwalk and interpretive centre tour sheets so I could look over them tonight. Did I mention that this job lets me speak french?? Yup. It's like having another french job. :D I can practice my french! And maybe learn German...we'll see. Until next time!

Peace and Love Forever.
